Easter Monday Record Fair at Semaphore – 22 April

Now that the Utrecht Record Fair [13/14/April] (where they publish a road map to help punters find their way around the 500 stalls the size of a small suburb) and Record Store Day [13 April] (where insanely priced records sell insanely) are safely done and dusted, it is time to turn to the local extravaganza at the beach side splendor of Semaphore.  Let’s hope the punters still have some loose change left in their pockets and purses.

The Semaphore Record Fair is scheduled for Easter Monday 22 April courtesy of Mr V Music. Easter brings autumnal weather and pleasant sea breezes along the Semaphore shores.  The fair will be held at St Bede’s Hall, 200 Military Road just short of Semaphore Road, with its street cafes, the esplanade and view of the bay.  For a little more excitement for the family you can also check out the Kite Festival on the beach before or after visiting the fair.

Doors at St Bede’s open from 9am until 4pm in the afternoon although we know people sneak in as soon as they can to seek out early bird bargains.  Entry is free and the site is accessible for prams and wheelchairs.

Slightly smaller than Utrecht, approximately 30 traders will have 50 tables of stock for sale, including vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, music books & magazines, posters, souvenirs, T-Shirts and more.

The friends of St Bede’s Parish run an excellent canteen so you can invigorate yourself after digging through the crates with coffee, tea, cakes or a hot meat pie.  Say Hello to Luize who runs the canteen.

At White Elephant Records we have been going through the archives and shelves to bring something old and new to the fair.  The crates are fairly crammed to the limit and records range from cheap to expensive and very expensive.  The condition of each album is also clearly marked and albums are sorted alphabetically to facilitate access.  We have something for everyone – from Abba to the Afghan Whigs, from Neil Sedaka to Neil Young.  And not forgetting all the Stewarts – Aami, Al, John & Rod!!! Just get into those crates and dig.

No road map required just follow your nose

We look forward to Easter Monday.  See you there.
